I am going to be having an arthoscopic acriomioplasty on my right shoulder on March 31st. ( I have a moderate impingement, tendinitis, and a few small tears in my rotator cuff.) I am 19 years old, an elite athlete, and I see both a physical therapist and acupuncturist a few times a week. Do you think I will be able to surf this summer? I've gotten varied responses as to how long it will take to recover and when I can go back to swimming. (I swim for a NCAA team and I'm a lifeguard, so I hope as soon as possible!)
I found your site off of swellinfo.com so it sounds like you are well acquainted with aquatic sports. I'd love to hear what you think!

  2. Acromioplasty, if done right, should be the best surgical option for you! Ask you accupuncturist if he/she has heard of ETPS. It is a direct electrical current at ACCU points that is showing a greater affect than ACCU alone. Something to look into...

By all means I would think surfing this summer is in your future. Be consistent with your exercises and make surre your PT knows your specific goals. Also, see my posting about paddling if you have a painful shoulder (aka impingement). If you can't find it, I'll re-type it. Posture during paddling is super important...please read it.

Thanks for the question and keep 'em coming and spread the word to others who you know who might benefit from this resource.
    THANKS
