Snowboard foot/ankle injury

Hi...I found your site from swellinfo. What a great idea!

Anyway... two weeks ago I tweaked my back foot on a bad landing off a jump snowboarding. It was a flat area..I fell backwards, but the board kind of stuck to the ground. I was able to put weight on it, but some motions caused a bit of pain -- particularly longitudinal flexing of the ankle. The pain was mainly centered on the top of the foot, just in front of the ankle. I went to a doctor who said it was (I think) a bruised bone.

The thing is, after the first few days it was feeling quite better, but I was still experiencing some pain here and there. However, two weeks later it feels like it's not getting any better from there, maybe even just a tad worse.

I wasn't given any directions from my Dr, he said it should just be better in about a week. Do you have any advice on how to help move the recovery along? As of now, I still can't even run or ride a bike, so I'm getting a little anxious.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  2. Brek,

That sucks man! Where were you riding?
Did you catch your toe edge I am guessing?

What is more painful...pointing your foot or raising it against gravity?

There are many tendons and some ligamnets in that area that you could have pulled. How did he think you bruised a bone? Did you feel like something struck you "there?" Did he say this based on palpation?

Google a good image of the ankle dorsal/anterior tendons and ligaments to help you better describe to me the exact location of your pain.

Get back to me and we'll move fwd...
Also, share the site please with anyone you know dealing with something...
