Physical Therapy Advice

As a PT, when I give advice to someone, I mean every word I am saying.  I won’t lay down a blanket of information to get the masses.  My advice is specific to the individual.

I have a hard time when I advise someone on manageing their condition and they don’t follow it and then end up frustrated as to why they aren’t improving as fast as they should.

Just to clarify: A PT should evaluate, diagnose, and treat conditions.  The role of the PT is to guide/advise the patient towards recovery.  It is the job of the patient to take charge of their care.  Just seeing your PT a few times a week isn’t usually enough.

If your following everything your PT says, and after about 5 visits you see NO improvement, then a good PT should step back and re-evaluate their perscribed interventions.
